SUGAR Apple and jam cake is a simple, wholesome, yet incredibly delicious dessert. Easy to make and ready in just a few minutes, it’s perfect for breakfast, accompanied by a glass of warm milk, or as a snack, paired with a cup of ginger tea for a warming treat during the colder months.
This is a soft, butter-free dessert with a creamy, sugary center. To make it, combine all the ingredients—eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, sunflower oil, flour, and baking powder with a pinch of salt—and fold in the peeled and chopped apples. Once you’ve poured the mixture into the greased and floured pan, simply spoon the apricot jam over the top, top with more apple slices, and bake for 45 minutes.
For best results, we recommend checking the surface frequently during baking to prevent it from browning too much. If this happens, you can cover it with aluminum foil and continue baking for the recommended time. If desired, you can enrich the dough with a teaspoon of cinnamon and ground cardamom for a spicy note, or a handful of blanched and chopped almonds, chopped hazelnuts, or other nuts.
