Ingredients:

1 (14 oz) can diced tomatoes (with juice)

1 small onion, chopped

1–2 cloves garlic, minced

1–2 jalapeños (fresh or pickled), chopped (adjust to spice preference)

1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves

1 tablespoon lime juice (fresh is best)

Salt to taste (start with 1/2 teaspoon)

Optional: 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
