Classic French Fries

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Potatoes:

  1. Peel (optional) and cut potatoes into 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick sticks.
  2. Soak the cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes (up to 2 hours) to remove excess starch.
  3. Drain and dry thoroughly using a clean kitchen towel.

2. Fry the Potatoes (Double Fry Method):

  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large heavy-bottomed pot to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Fry the potatoes in batches for about 4–5 minutes until soft but not browned. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  3. Increase oil temperature to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Fry the potatoes again in batches until golden and crispy (about 2–3 minutes).
  5. Drain on paper towels and immediately season with salt.

3. Serve:

  • Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
